Creative Resources - Audition Comic Tips
On an certain ordinary day of summer, the air began to shift.
It was on that day that Reality separated, once again, for a fourth time- and for an instance, the smallest flicker of time...
The Real gasped for breath.
You could feel it, though for only a fleeting moment: perhaps it was just a trick of the mind.
And yet, on the other side not all was as it had been. Beyond the exhausted wasteland left behind from tournaments past, behind its curtains, the following scene was transpiring…
Ladies and gentlemen, your judges are:
I now formally announce...
Artists at the Ready 4
AUDITION PERIOD:
September 1st, 2015 - October 17th, 2015
ROSTER SIZE:
32 Competitors
A FEW NOTES:
-Please check the updated rules, intro, prizes etc. as they have all been modified in one way or another, and contain invaluable information to be considered for this OCT.
-All resources (messengers and judges) will be posted before the audition period begins, likely late August. It is highly recommended that you wait to begin creating your auditions until you have viewed said references, but c'mon, we aren't going to police you for getting ahead of the game.
-Some things have changed since the last tournament: the state of the real, the roster size, even how many characters you may summon. Read the rules and FAQ if you have any questions. Please do this BEFORE you ask the judges questions!
-All of the group’s folders have been reorganized. Though it may appear that Aatr2 and 3 don’t have any deviations in their folder, check the left side-bar to see all the subfolders where the journeys of tournaments past have been safely archived for your later reading pleasures!
-We will be hosting an FAQ chat room session soon. Stay tuned!
A personal message from the judges:
Hello, competitors! We are so thrilled to be judging you all... But mostly, we're itching to watch you beat each other up. Out of character, we sincerely care about you guys, so after you've read all of the resources and information we've provided for you, we'll be happy to answer your questions.
Many a hoop was jumped through in order to bring this tournament back to life, as it was very much in demand by so many of you talented people itchin' for a good old artist fight, and it's very important to all of us that the good times are kept rolling. Please stay tuned for judge/messenger refs, hype stuff, and the impending audition period. But most of all....
GET READY!

AatR BATTLE CARD GAME
So it turns out that two of the three categories for the prompt were extremely unconventional than we've originally conceptualized, and each took far more time and effort in order to judge the submissions properly without disregarding any of their merits. After a long evaluation, we're proud to announce that our round 4 spectator prompt winners are:

Sky and Mags pulled through with a strong lead on their narrative. They jumped right into the conflict with the opposing team, and had a clear goal with concise beats to get to it, both in terms of plot and the emotional payoff. They did a decent job getting their comic to a state of legible readability with clear action, though in a few places it becomes painfully

This is just a minor thing I've had in my mind recently, but can you guys make an official statement in the FAQ about your thoughts on audition comics that are mostly, or almost entirely, made up of photographs? Because I'm pretty sure it won't accurately represent what they'll have for their actual entries, since they surely won't be using photographs for their comics during the majority of the tournament.
